Coaches, do you still run OSV to TE side against 44 that has a 7 (6i) technique? If so, how do you block it? Who is the H.O. key?

we try not to .We would first run midline and then inside veer.If we did run it we would have the g base the 3. the t ,te block 6i with an i on ilb.Read the olb.

When you run OSV vs the Defense you describe, it in effect becomes ISV with the 7 tech becoming the dive read. You can't inside release the TE with a gap player inside him, so you're still going to have to outside release him.
If we call OSV vs a 44 with a head-up DE, we're telling the TE we want him to inside release and help seal the ILB as the psOT and psG are comboing the 3 tech and probably aren't getting to the Mike LB. We don't often call this - it is a change of pace kind of thing. If the defense is pretty consistant with the responsibilities, we might try it. We're more likely to call Lead option vs any outside stack defense (53/44) than OSV. One of the great things about OSV is that versus a 52, you take the pitch read and make him the dive read... only he doesn't know it! Versus a 40, you would still be reading the DE no matter what, so you're not getting much of an advantage from that respect.

Coach,
what we try to do and its really neat is just change the backs track if we want to run OV against a 7 technique...the tight end still arcs up on the PSLB but the backs track now becomes the inside hip of the tackle...it essentially is still the outside veer....no blocking assignments have changed, but its really worked out well..

In all honesty though, i wouldn't recommend running th OV into a 37 (techs) front....why not run the IV or the lead option? Remember, Veer football is about ANGLES......and the Veer is about NOT FORCING plays to work....Yes, the Outside Veer COULD work against a 37 front...but it has BAD angles....which plays give you better ANGLES to attack the 37??? Yes, the I.V. and the Lead option...not to mention the midline..... just my thoughts, houstonveer
