With so many teams running the option from shotgun this seems like a good play to run, espeically in areas of the field where you might go for it. If the defense drops a player to receive the punt you have a numbers advantage. If they don;t you can punt without threat of a return.
What do you guys think? Positives? Negatives?

Can you tell us more, tog? What have been the benefits? Anything negative about doing this? Sounds great but I haven't seen a lot of teams do it. Sounds like Lou Howard's :Short Punt" stuff.

We punted from the shotgun about 10 times last year and no one even attempted a return. It works great because you can't set up a return and no matter how often you do it you still have to respect the offensive formation.
