We need some arguments to make in favor of option ... there are so many in the There are many in our community, administration and athletic department that feel the option is not a "good offense today". Help us out by giving us strong argument sin favor of sticking with this great offense.
About us: small school (about 500 students) ... long time wing - t .... long history of football ... great teams in the late 70s and 80s including league champions and state playoffs in the early 80s ... hard times lately ...
THANKS!!

Hey coach, we ran double wing/single wing for years and had many doubters. We had to bite our toungue till we won championchips. As you know, when we don't win, no matter the reason, there's not much we can say. You might want to let them know that the option hasn't hurt De La Salle, and that one of the best things we can do versus better personnel is to have an offense where we don't have to block them.

US Naval Academy went 10-2 I believe this year under coach Paul Johnson. Johnson was previously at Georgia Southern where they won numerous national titles running the option. Navy was 0-10 in '01 ..2-10 in '02, 8-5 in '03, and 10-2 in '04. This past year was a Navy record for wins in a season. The option truly gave this team the chance to compete and win with inferior athletes. If you watched this team play, they weren't particularly blessed with tremendous speed or size, but they won. My favorite argument for the option...what other offense can say we're not gonna block you, but we're coming right at you.

I have to agree w/ tacb. I live in Alb NM and my Lobos got dominated despite outsizing their line w/ size. We also had the speed advantage, but still they ran up several hundred yards vs Rocky Long's 3-3 5 d . They rsuhed for 270 yds on 58 carries 4 passes for 125 yds.
Im was born and raised on option football in Lincoln Ne. Osbourne was the master, he always had success with 3* athletes, when he did get a 5* (Touchdown Tommie Frazier) well we all know how that story went.

1) The Option gets more players involved than almost any other offense. 2) It requires kids to use their heads, be smart, and be involved. 3) It gives an advantage against bigger teams, because you aren't blocking their best athletes, your reading them. 4) With Wing-T Option you have the ultimate misdirection offense, making it difficult for your opponent to know where the #&$$#^%!! ball is. 5) When mixed with the Jet Sweep series, you can attack the corners until the cows come home with the option, leaving your stud running back against their weenie corners.
Are you just running 100/900 series formations or have you guys broken out a little?
