i'm curious how everyone teaches the pitch from the QB to the TB with an open side defensive end, is there time to step and give with the pitch?, i know many people teach to sink heels and fall back, but i'm not sold on that, so lets hear your ideas.

Accelerate to the pitch key-- step and pitch the ball with the thumb down chest to chest.

I coach the QB to play at a speed opposite that of the pitch key -- he plays fast-you slow down; he slow plays-you attack. The only time we would give ground and pitch would be vs. a screaming hot pitch key.

Thanks Coach LO. QBs really seam to respond to that coaching point. I've tried others and none seem to work as well. You simply cannot approach all pitch keys the same. If you attack a "hot" pitch key the same way you approach a slow-play you are doing one or both of them really poorly.

we also attack the slow play end.Shorten your steps and go slow at the attack end.
