Coaches, do you have a preference of running the ISV to the 1 or the 3 tech? Opinions and why...any response is appreciated.

to the 1 tech you dont need a double and your tackle can go to lb.the 3 tech is in the path of the fb,if he is tough or gets a stale mate he could cause a problem for the fb.

Agreed, it also makes the angles for the playside Tackle, Guard, and Center much easier. A stud DT doesn't need double teamed and really pressures that DE to be disciplined and squeeze. Even if the DE is good enough to take away FB, you are pitching off OLB and RB is one on one with a corner.

So do you have the WR break block on the FS and have WB crack first LB in the core. In the past we've had WB go to the FS and arc blocked the CB with our WR leaving Pitch man one on one with FS in a race to the sideline.

well, with the system I've been a part of the past three season, we run a pro set (split or I) with multiple formations. If we are in a twins set, the inside receiver will take the safety and receiver stalk the corner. A single reciever set, he gets the safety and back has to beat the corner himself (not a big problem with the quality of cornerback tackling in our conference). We pitch of that backer, so we don't block him.

In thinking about this more last night, my previous answer was for when that safety might be cheating to the weakside. For the most part, we run ISV AWAY from the TE. So, for the most part, the safety will be in the middle of the field or cheating to the strong side-two receiver side. In that case, the WR will simply stalk block the corner, becuase the safety shouldn't be a factor until down the field.

We don't utilize a tight end too often. We have trouble finding tight end "athletes". We like to keep it with 2 slots and 2 wides. We find that we have less tendencies this way. What are the some advantages you gain from having a tight end other than the free possibly cheating strong?

We have been fortunate enough to have a great TE the past three seasons--the kid started as a sophomore. Remeber, even though I've been asking all sorts of Double Slot questions, the program I've been a part of has been Pro-I and Split Back Veer. The TE has been one of our best blockers--midline, OSV, Power, Counter Trey, Toss, Belly Trap, and Belly Option are all plays we run to the TE and he gave us a great blocker on that side for thos plays. We also flex the TE wide often in hopes of getting mismatches.
