From an email sent by member VEERING:
For all you coaches who want to run the option but don't have enough backs to run the flexbone;don't have the fullback to run "iso"from the "I";and you can't
find 2 halfback types for the split-back veer,I suggest the "Peach-Bone"(named from my tenure at Peach County High in Georgia). This is a 2 back attack that
features a "B"or fullback and an "A"or slotback. The "B" back will be the dive back on most plays(similar to wing-t or I)and the "A" back wil be the pitchman/slot reciever. The "A" back always aligns opposite the tightend in a flexbone type alignment(1x1).If the play calls for motion to the Tightend, the "A" back will go in full motion thru the heels of the "B" back and maintain
pitch relationship. If the play is to the "A" back,he will use twirl motion(motion to where he would be as a halfback-about 3 steps),then reverse pivot making sure to keep shoulders square to LOS.This set gives you much versatility, especially if you like to throw the ball, because you have "trips" or 4 reciever capability. On the goalline we ran "Jumbo" which is an unbalanced 2
Tightend set(4man side opposite 3 man side with "A" back) and we ran the same plays. You can even incorporate many of the newer schemes such as Shotgun veer;Jet and Rocket motion;or even spread option like Utah.I have some videos if anyone would like to have a copy(keep in mind this was 1992),e-mail me at kelshaw-j@harris.k12.ga.us,and will discuss particulars.
